Open Question: I'm 14 years old and have hearing loss. Hearing aid help?
15 July 2010, 11:16 am

Ok so I'm 14 years old and my father and grandfather and others on my dads side have hearing loss and they all have gone deaf. At school alot of the kids have realized I have hearing loss, but this year I got hearing aids. I grew my hair out longer than normal and nobody knew (I'm a boy by the way) but I like my hair alot better shorter. My dad and grandpa have both received cochlear impants and are very happy with them. But enough of that, my question is, should I wear my hearing aids with my hair short where everyone can see them this coming year in highschool starting as a freshman? I'm not so much embarrassed by them, but more of scared that kids are gonna stare and make fun. Should I wear them and then make an excuse like say "Oh, I lost my hearing at a party" or something? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -James
